Frequently asked questions

You will find some of the most frequent questions about SSP below. If you cannot find the answer to your particular question, please contact our support department.

How do I calculate a Design - Flow Optimization?
If you do not have a fully specified temperature program (e.g. you do not know the out temperature on side 2) and do not have a specified heat exchanger, SSP optimizes the flow rates for you. Just leave the item you do not know blank and do a design calculation. Please send us the information you'll find in the registration dialog. We will return a Site Key, which is a combination of numbers and letters unique to your PC.

Where do I find this 'Site Code' number?
You will find it in the upper left corner of the window that prompts you to enter the Site Key. The Site Code is unique to your PC, and we need it to generate your Site Key.

My program won't start. What do I do?
Go to the Installation hints.

My trial period has expired. What now?
Send us your name and we will deal with it.

Comparing the results with SSP 97.11 there may be some differences. Can I rely on the results from SSP CBE?
The pressure drop has been improved in SSP CBE, which uses a new port pressure drop correlation based on tests in Landskrona. The heat transfer has also been improved. The wall resistance in SSP 97.11 was incorrect by about 10%. In this case, it results in 3% better total heat transfer.

Can I get my Previews and Quotes in MS Word format?
Yes you can. In 'Options'->'Preview' you will find a box where it says 'Use MS Word'. Check this box and make sure you also check the box below. Locate the 'ssp.dot' template by clicking the 'Locate template' button. Then click the 'Ok' button in the 'Options' window.

I have entered a new fluid but it doesn't show up among the other fluids.
Close the calculation window and start a new one. Now the fluid should be there.

How can I customize SSP?
By changing the 'Options'. You can set the startup heat exchanger type or the calculation method, for example.

How can I customize my input data form?
Choose your settings for the most common calculation and save this setting as default (Menu: 'File' - 'Save calculation setting as default')

Can I rename the heat exchangers?
Yes, just change the exchangers' names under 'Options'. Under the 'Name' tab you can choose the exchanger and rename it. The new name will appear in your list and printouts.
